Payangadi, the verdant
paradise, overflows many natural splendors, mountains and valleys, lush paddy fields and
lazy lagoons, hauntingly beautiful beaches and back waters generous yields of paddy wealth
and rich harvest coconuts. Payangadi is located in Cannanore district which is in the north part of Kerala. The village is surrounded by the great Ezhimala (seven hills) and the Arabian Sea. Ezhimala is now taken over by the Naval Academy. There is an ancient mosque at the top most of the hills that was built at the beginning of 1950. Besides the Ezhimala there is a Pond made by Jews. The specialty of this pond is that, if we go near the pond and say something it will be echoed. Malik Dinar the famous Muslim scholar at the time of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon Him) arrived at Payangadi to spread Islam. He built the ancient Madayi Pally still located in the heart of the village. Madayi Kavu the famous Hindu Temple believe to be the oldest one built in India and it is well known all over the country. Mattool and Muttam, our neighboring villages are decribed as Mini Persian Gulf. 70% of the population depend on gulf money. And no matter what my village people worship, they have a very good knowledge about Marxian theory and they strongly believe in Marxism. |
